Early Life: Derrick grew up in Winter Park, Florida, where he attended Winter Park High School. Inspired by a strong sense of duty following the events of 9/11, he enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduating.

Military Career: Derrick’s distinguished military career saw him serve as an Infantry Squad Leader, leading his squad through multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington; Vilseck, Germany; Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Derrick earned several prestigious accolades, including the Expert Infantry Badge (EIB), Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), Pathfinder Badge, and Air Assault Badge, demonstrating his exceptional skills and dedication to his country.

Academics: Following his military service, Derrick pursued higher education with the same dedication and determination. He earned a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership & Development and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Economics. Currently, Derrick is attending law school, further enhancing his leadership, analytical skills, and commitment to service. His extensive military experience, combined with his academic achievements, positions him as a valuable leader and mentor within the Genesis 2:15 Project.
